Preventing UTIs in Babies | The Importance of Hygiene and Diaper Changes

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) in infants can lead to serious health issues, including kidney infections that may cause long-term damage. One major factor contributing to UTIs in babies is prolonged exposure to soiled diapers, which creates a warm, moist environment for bacterial growth.
Infants have delicate skin and an underdeveloped immune system, making them more prone to infections. When diapers are not changed frequently, bacteria—especially from fecal matter—can spread to the urethral area, increasing the risk of infection.
Since these symptoms are often nonspecific, early medical intervention is crucial to prevent complications like kidney infections.
By practicing good hygiene and being vigilant about diaper changes, parents can significantly lower the risk of UTIs in babies.
